Friar Vincent Long Nguyen, OFMConv., General Assistant for FAAMC, has conducted the general canonical visitation on all the friaries of our Custody last November 14 to 28 in view of the coming ordinary custodial Chapter.
His simple and fraternal approach to the friars and to other people was a factor which brought serenity and joy to the whole experience of his presence among us. His visitation to the Custody concluded by encountering the custodial Definitory. During the meeting Friar Vincent expressed, among other things: - his gratitude for the kindness and hospitality shown to him during his visit to the various communities, - his personal impression that the Custody at this moment seems to enjoy more peace and serenity, more cohesion and more clarity of goals and objectives. - he said that the leadership of both Custos and Definitory, are by and large accepted and supported by the friars, - the Custody has a well organized formation program, but still lack friars duly prepared for this ministry. - he thinks that the personal situation of several friars still needs to be clarified especially for what regards their future as members of the Custody - the Custody still remain with the challenge of finding more and more ways of achieving self-support and financial independence. - the ideal of a complete Filipino leadership also remains a challenge for the Custody. |
